"I've been running a community music website (nsym.org.nz) for over a decade now with very little knowledge about how the website works and relying on large overseas corporations to host my site with very little support and what seemed like large costs compared to what I received.

Carl offered to completely rebuild the site with a modern but similar look to maintain cohesion and reduce the cost down to less than a quarter of what I was previously paying every year. I have a simple interface to change small details on the site when required and excellent communication with Carl if any larger changes are needed.

The website is fast and reliable now, where previously it was slow and non responsive. It's been an excellent experience and outcome during the whole process and I recommend other community groups look at streamlining their online presence with Carl's help."

Who's behind this

Hi, I'm Carl.

I built my first two websites back in 2000 — a music database and a homepage for my high school band, The Croutones. Since then I've become a professional orchestral musician, currently with the Auckland Philharmonia.

As a full-time musician, web development ticked along as a fun yet tedious hobby. But in 2026 the limiting factors for a custom web designer have been shattered — frontier AI tools have laid the industry completely bare and ready for disruption. Technical skill and raw hours are no longer the bottleneck, so my development time is now highly productive and creative, with professional-grade results, while costs have plummeted.

I've seen this tectonic shift first-hand with my own projects, and I'm excited to share it with individuals and small organisations who are paying far too much for an old-fashioned website.
